The generous spirit in Church of the Harvest is just awesome. We have such an incredible church family. The culture of generosity is deeply rooted into our hearts. Proverbs 11:24-25 says, “One man gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.” This promises that the generous person will not have lack for anything but will prosper and that prosperity will increase. What a promise!

As we are generous, we are refreshing others then we receive refreshing also. Refresh means to enliven, renew, breathe new life into, thirst-quenching, invigorating, and exhilarating. What an impact the generous person has on others and himself.

Psychologists tell us that the two greatest motivating forces in a person’s life are the desire for gain and their fear of loss. If you could have a guarantee you would never lack for your material needs and that you would experience an ever increasing prosperity, how much would that be worth to you? God has given us that guarantee, all we have to do is to be generous. Although this verse is speaking primarily of financial generosity, it is not limited to that. Being generous means being focused on meeting the genuine needs of other people and ministering grace to them whether with money, prayer, loving kindness, good works or emotional support or assistance. It means seeing others through our Father’s eyes. Let’s be generous every day and live the refreshing life that only belongs to the generous.

Loving God, Loving People & Serving the World,

Pastor Bob
