Merry Christmas! What a wonderful time of the year to enjoy our family and friends with fun, presents, laughter and great food. These are all gratifying, but I want to encourage you to remember the perfect gift given to us by our Father. In the hustle and bustle of the season slow down and reflect on the priceless and everlasting Christmas gift of Jesus Christ. He was born to die on the cross to pay for our redemption and this great salvation has made a way for us to be a part of His family. What a gift God has blessed us with to become His sons and daughters.
Have you ever had the thought “what can I give my Father?” Phil 2:6 – 8 NLT Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. 7 Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, 8 he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross. Jesus set aside His position in heaven to become a slave so you and I, who were once slaves to sin, could have a position in heaven. He told His leaders how to be leaders in His kingdom. He said to be greatest you must become a servant just as Jesus did.
1 John 4:17 declares as He is so are we in this world. As His people you and I are called to be His representatives in the earth. We are to bless, to heal, and to love people into the kingdom of God. What better gift can we give to our families and friends than to be their servants, to love and bless them and let them see Jesus in our every word and action? What better present can we give to our heavenly Father than to be His accurate representative revealing Him as loving, giving, kind and merciful? This is the true heart of Christmas and this year I believe it will be seen in you.
